What is telehealth?
Telehealth, or telemedicine, is the ability to meet with your provider virtually, using technology similar to Skype® or FaceTime. While telehealth was originally invented to provide medical care to people who live in remote places, today, telehealth provides convenient access to your provider regardless of your location.
In many situations, Ms. Renee may not need to see you in person to consult on any conditions or possible treatments. She can talk to you about your child's symptoms through the phone or via video chat, and you can upload pictures for her to examine. In order to qualify for telehealth services, you first need to visit Pediatric Kare Klinic in person so Ms. Renee is familiar with your child and their medical history.
Why would I use telehealth?
There are many reasons you might choose to use telehealth services. For example, if you’re traveling and your child comes down with an illness, you can meet with Ms. Renee virtually to discuss your symptoms and get a prescription and recovery advice. You may also need to schedule a time when you and your child are both available at home, but unable to travel to the office. In times of stress or need for more immediate care, telehealth can be a faster way of connecting with your provider.
Whatever your reason for choosing telehealth, you can benefit from the convenience this technology provides.
What should I expect from telehealth?
During your appointment, you video-chat and talk about your child's symptoms or conditions. You and Ms. Renee can see each other so she can assess your child's appearance for signs of illness. You can also upload pictures, for example, if your child has a rash, for her to review.
If you need a prescription or a referral, Ms. Renee can provide it virtually. Otherwise, she gives you advice on how to manage your symptoms and improve your health.
What are the benefits of telehealth?
Telehealth is convenient. You can meet with Ms. Renee from the comfort of your own home and don’t need to spend time in the waiting room. The technology is easy to use and secure to ensure your privacy.
